For the past few days she's been going non-stop, hitting up as many Nightmarescapes as she could. It was obvious that she was burning herself out, but she knew that time wasn't on her side anymore. For the sake of the ticket that she collected and herself, much less so for the rest of the town, she had a mission that she absolutely needed to finish.
She wanted to pawn it off on someone else. Desperately, wanted to just give it to someone else to tell them to deal with it, but then she'd have to deal with the consequences of that. Hearing more about how she's putting everyone at risk by not going to anyone sooner. When was she supposed to? When she was sleeping? When everyone in town lost their memories? While everyone was killing each other? She sure as hell wasn't going to do it now, now that everyone else's self-preservation rang true, and rang against her. It was a pain in the ass, and she didn't want to deal with it.
Speaking of things she didn't want to deal with.
She felt tired. Too tired. In the back of her mind, she tried to figure what would help... coffee, probably. Coffee and cream. She was more into tea, but there were multiple times that she had to switch to coffee during particularly long stakeout missions. Which was neither good for those she was staking out with or the Darkstalker they inevitably found. In her groggy daze it was already hard for her to see where she was going, and she passed through the doors of the new chocolate shop.
With an incredibly sleepy yawn, she goes up to the counter. In her mind it was the cafe, but that girl had probably moved into that new store she created. Shouldn't be a problem. ]
Tall coffee, please. Just a little cream. No sugar.
[ It hasn't registered who she's talking to yet. ]
[ Of all the people to show up at her brand new, awesome chocolate shop, Lilith hadn't expected the hunter. It's unbelievable, really. She walked in without a care, headed directly to the counter, and without even the slightest hesitation sought to order...
a coffee. squint.
Was this girl serious? Did she really waltz in to a chocolate shop, Lilith's chocolate shop, just to order a coffee? Lilith leans over the counter, hands placed delicately on the marble, and stares long and hard at Bonnie. God, the girl looked like an utter mess, and who was she trying to fool with that outfit? Herself?
It's almost comical, the entire situation. Weren't her last words to Lilith something along the lines of "Burn in Hell"? That icy stare, replaced by a barely cognizant gaze. Acting like nothing was wrong, like Lilith was just any other person in her life. ]
Dear... [ A shit eating smirk. ] Do you miss me that much?
[ The voice jars her out of her daze long enough for her to finally gather her bearings. The area was actually unfamiliar, unlike the cafe that she had initially avoided due to the figure behind the counter, occasionally serving meals. No-- this was that shop, wasn't it? She walked here in a stupor, and now she was face to face with--
Her.
The hunter's face turned stony with a frustrated sick of her teeth. Goddamn it, of course she looked so smug, so satisfied with herself. She killed her, killed that girl, and she got away with it. She started a business for heavens sake. Lilith looks like someone who knew how victorious she was, smirking at the girl she bested.
It was too exhausting after all. No witty comeback, no comment to be made. She doesn't look angry or as if she's going to attack. Instead, she turns on her heel. Not giving her this benefit. ]
[ It wasn't as clear cut as it seemed. Certainly, Lilith was acting her usual self, but Bonnie didn't see all the time she spent in her house in complete darkness. The thoughts continued to swarm, the disappointment and frustration directed her way for reasons she didn't understand. It was fine, what she did to Bonnie. It had to be fine, because if it wasn't then she'd have to dwell on matters.
She only did what she had to in order to guarantee her safety, and if this encounter was any indication, it worked. ]
[ She's been waiting. A little further away, not anywhere where she's completely obvious, but she's been staking out the place. Waiting. Wondering when she's going to call it quits for the night. There's nothing more to it than that. She's hidden from sight, breathing steady. Plotting out in her head how she's going to do this. How she'll make this work.
Lilith would most likely see her from any angle, and she had to test earlier how long it'd take for one of her bombs to detonate on its own, if she wanted to control it herself. Plus, it wasn't what she wanted at this point. It wouldn't work.
Which is why as soon as Lilith leaves Splendor Love, she's there. She's not hidden. She's staring a hole in the Darkstalker, present and untransformed, basket dangling from her arm. Back to the old cape and cloak, back to how she looked before. The only thing that hasn't changed back is her face. The expression that if Lilith could parse, was more than "I'm tired," and less than "Let's play!"
Play time was over. The Darkhunter has arrived, giving Lilith time to react to her presence alone. ]
Lilith will find a wooden doll that looks suspiciously like her wrapped up in a bow on her doorstep. It looks carved up a heck of a lot around the arms and the neck, either shoddy craftsmanship, or... well, given that the bits that are hacked are red, maybe not.
[ Should she even give her a response? Is there even a response that would do any good for her, in the end; something that would make Bonnie rethink her choices? There probably wasn't, but that doesn't stop Lilith from trying. ]
Let's hope Harry doesn't slip out of your grasp again. ♡
[ Oh ho. That was how she was going to play this. She herself was just going to leave it at that, but that kind of threat?
It was bait. But she was taking it. ]
Killing a defenseless puppy? Goodness, that's so cruel. I thought you only wanted ME dead, you don't have to drag a poor thing like him into this. What would everyone else say, knowing you've resorted to killing animals now that it's that hard to kill me?
[ Having spent most of the last day writing up a journal and keeping everything intact, the Darkhunter spent a lot of time thinking about her next steps. She knows what needs to be done, and she knows what needs to happen, and worse off: she already feels terrible. Her gem had been cleansed before all of this started, and those bugs were going to make it harder for anybody to track down and fight a Nightmare.
Plus, with her mind the way it was... there was no way she was going to make it out of this, the same person she was going in. The same 'person'. The thought curdled in Bonnie's heart, that she could be anything less than that, and the more and more that she let that fester in her head, the more she felt she'd stumbled upon a note she didn't want.
She could do it herself. But no-- really, she couldn't. The idea of doing this herself felt worse than anything, and she wouldn't allow that. She had tried that already and it didn't work. Shiny wouldn't do it. That bastard at the library wouldn't. Madoka would ask her why. Which meant her options had dwindled down to one, and she had to swallow every single amount of pride she had to take that walk.
B.B. Hood stepped through the doors of Splendor Love, looking for the Darkstalker. It was best to do this now, in case something changed. On her is no basket, with Harry and her cape and hood left behind, changed out to her 'civilian' attire. She'd embarrassed herself in here before, and here she was-- dressed the same. ]
We need to talk. [ She says, voice as neutral as can be. Not jaunty, not vicious. Just... plain neutral. ]
[ Well, that wasn't the kind of customer Lilith expected. She had been cleaning up, preparing to close up shop for the night to start her second job: watching the incense shop for any signs of Kagaku Yamashita. Lilith was keeping her promise to Kakyoin, and had no intentions of actually killing Kagaku as of yet, but she couldn't wait an entire week to do anything.
Unfortunately, she had yet to see any results.
Lilith gives Bonnie a bemused smirk, and leans against the counter. ]
[ Was it even enough money? Lilith doesn't check, flitting off to a rather impressive display of chocolates to pick out a piece and place it on a small plate with ornate red detailing. The chocolate itself is a rich dark chocolate in the shape of bat wings, detailed with white chocolate. It's filled with, you guessed it, a deep burgundy berry filling.
[ Shinoa doesn't get a response until days later--the 18th, to be exact. It's a little hard to answer a phone when you're lying in someone else's house, stone cold dead. ]
[ In response, Lilith sends an adorable selfie! She's in her shop making chocolates, with a bit of raspberry filling--hopefully--smeared on her cheek as she makes a peace sign with her free hand. ]
[The bat icon by itself was a pretty big giveaway.]
This is Viola - the girl who comes by sometimes to buy chocolate from your shop? I just wanted to say that I was thunderstruck by your performance during the battle against that Witch. I never knew a magi could be so strong.
